Centre members and HDR students undertake high quality and high impact research projects on a range of contemporary challenges in criminal law, criminal justice and criminology. Current research projects address:
- policing including police powers/practices, media and technology;
- patterns and practices of over- and under-criminalisation;
- crime and criminal justice in Indigenous communities;
- domestic violence and sexual violence offending and prevention;
- alcohol- and drug-related crime;
- juries, forensic science and experts in criminal trials;
- restorative justice, victimology, victim involvement in criminal justice;
- preventive justice and pre-emptive criminalisation and punishment (including counter-terrorism measures); and
- corrections, penology and alternatives to mass incarceration (including justice reinvestment).
