Centre members and HDR students undertake high quality and high impact research projects on a range of contemporary challenges in criminal law, criminal justice and criminology. Current research projects address:

  • policing including police powers/practices, media and technology;
  • patterns and practices of over- and under-criminalisation;
  • crime and criminal justice in Indigenous communities;
  • domestic violence and sexual violence offending and prevention;
  • alcohol- and drug-related crime;
  • juries, forensic science and experts in criminal trials;
  • restorative justice, victimology, victim involvement in criminal justice;
  • preventive justice and pre-emptive criminalisation and punishment (including counter-terrorism measures); and
  • corrections, penology and alternatives to mass incarceration (including justice reinvestment).
