"CCLJ was a great and new experience - for me, it was the first time working in a Centre focused on scholarship and research, and moreover being a new Centre, Sophie and I were the inaugural interns!" Christine Maibom
The 2018 Critical Criminology and Social Justice Conference hosted by the UNSW Centre for Crime, Law and Justice, 26-28 September, offered an engaging variety of presentations, and many had an important common ‘thread’: using social and criminological research as means of challenging the status quo.
On Tuesday, 11 September 2018, the Centre for Crime, Law and Justice hosted the Inaugural Tony Vinson Memorial Lecture to celebrate the seminal contributions and achievements of Tony Vinson in criminal justice and the social sciences more generally over more than five decades.
The Centre has co-ordinated and released an Open Letter calling on the Australian Government to act on the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) report on high rates of incarceration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples.
