On 16 May 2018 the Centre was officially launched by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor George Williams at a function attended by members and guests from across UNSW and the wider community. To mark the occasion, distinguished criminologist Professor Adam Crawford delivered the inaugural CCLJ Annual Lecture on the topic of ‘Decentring the Police from Policing: Re-imagining Public Safety in and through Networks.'

Adam Crawford is Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Leeds. He is Director of the Leeds Social Sciences Institute and Director of the N8 Policing Research Partnership. From February-May 2018 Adam was a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the UNSW and made a valuable contribution during a formative period in the life of CCLJ.
